The triplets are 20 months old

As you can see its been a while since I've updated this blog. TG the triplets are all beautiful and doing very well.
The names are: Tali, Shir, and Liron (Girl Girl Boy)

We had discovered, at about 6 weeks old, that Shir was born without a thyroid. She was displaying typical symptoms of a swelling stomach, refused to suck, constipated, and slept most of the time.

The hospital routinely perform thyroid tests, but for some reason they missed Shir - they did test the other two. We were very lucky that a locum Pediatrician insisted on a thyroid test, and this is how we discovered it.

Shir was immediately put onto Altroxin, and miraculously, she started recovering within days. After two week of starting the Altroxin, she was home. She has caught up very nicely.

Our names are Steven and Zohar Green. We are both 36 years old, and we have a 3 year old daughter whose name is Hila. This is a blog of our amazing news, that Zohar is pregnant with triplets, and we are very excited to share our story.
28 June 2007
Our story starts on the 28th June, when Zohar suspected that she was pregnant. She went for a BCHG blood test, and the result was positive. She immediately made an appointment with her gynecologist. The appointment date was set for 23 July, as the Doctor said that there was no point coming for a consultation before 6 weeks. Zohar estimated that this would be around 23 of July 2007. It is a Jewish tradition not to tell anyone of a pregnancy for the first 3 months.
Meeting at work.
23 July 2007
The appointment was at 9:30 AM. Her doctor consults at the Park Lane Clinic. I was very busy at work, so I went early through to office first, and met Zohar at the hospital. I work in the Johannesburg CBD, so the drive to the Park Lane Clinic is only 15 minutes. After the usual formalities at the start of the consultation, he asked Zohar to go into his examination room for the fetal scan. As you can imagine, a multiple birth was the furthest thing from our minds. Well, while examining, we first saw the first, then a saw a second, and a third. Zohar and myself were in shock. The doctor said that it looks like 2 eggs, with 1 split egg . This means that two of the babies share a placenta, which we are told unfortunately can cause complications.
The doctor advised us not to tell anyone, as a multiple pregnancy is a high risk pregnancy, and there a high chance mis-carriage. The doctor said that he wanted to see us in about 3 weeks. We were too excited to wait as long a three weeks, so we insisted on an earlier appointment, which he managed to give in just over a week's time.
This doctor has only previously delivered 2 sets if triplets. I must emphasize that Zohar did not have any fertility treatment, these are all natural, man. The chances are one in over one million. But this is not a game of stats, it is a huge blessing from the almighty.
Triplets are not carried to full term of a singleton, the full term for triplets is 34 weeks.

I could not make the 2nd appointment, but Zohar phoned me straight after, confirming that everything was perfect. Zohar still not showing. He called in his receptionist and another gynecologist to come look at the scan. Zohar is nautious, but no vomiting.
20 Aug 2007
Zohar is really starting to show. I am sure everyone now suspects Zohar is pregnant.
23 Aug 2007
This was the 3 month appointment. Thank G-d, everything is perfect. The babies are all at their correct sizes. The doctor also predicted the sexes, that the two babies in the same sack are girls, and the other baby is a girl. He still confirmed that the two babies are sharing placenta. Zohar showing very slightly. Zohar still nautious, but not vomiting, and she is still working. She is getting tired. Announcing to everyone. My parents came over to the house to celebrate. We called our relatives overseas. This is the e-mail that I sent out to my friends:

Zohar bumped into Michelle, and old friend at Franjelico. Zohar of course told the her the good news.
27 Aug 2007
Zohar's Doctor called her to day that she urgently must have a cervical suture. This is standard procedure for triplets, as this ensures that the pregnancy lasts longer. Zohar made the appointment for tomorrow. Michelle called Zohar, Zohar mentioned the sutere, and Michelle said Zohar should speak to Mrs Saxtein, who had triplets 10 years ago, and she provides support to mother with a multiple pregnancy. Zohar called, and she advised to contact another guin, who specialises in multiple pregnancies. Zohar the doctor, and made an appointment for Wed 29 Aug 2007, at 6:30 AM, at the Sandton Clinic. Zohar canceled the cervical suture.

We left the house at 5:45 AM. Got to the doctor at exactly 6:30 AM. He is a very thorough Doctor, we got great comfort from his consultation. Zohar will be 80th off triplet. He was also surprised that they are natural, and he has only seen one natural triplets previously. His fetal scan was very thorough, it lasted for 45 minutes. He gave us some very good news, in that he is quite sure that there is a very thin membrane separating the one placenta, which means that the babies are all from seperate eggs and therefore there would not be identical twins. He also said that Zohar must have a mcdonald stitch inserted. This is a surgical procedure which done under a general anesthetic. Zohar made the appointment for 4 Sep 2007.

Went to see the Rabbi
31 Aug 2007
We decided to go for yet another scan, to a gynecologist who specialises in fetal scans.
